St. Regis Aspen
The hotel appears much larger than its 179-room size, mainly because a St. Regis Residence Club is attached to the main building, offering full-service condo accommodations.
Someone in the design staff definitely liked the colour red, as guests discover a bold colour palette mixed with tartans and Missoni-like fabrics that add a modern touch to antiquated wooden-headboards and uninspired bedside tables. At just 400-square feet each, the rooms are some of the smallest in the St. Regis collection but offering its signature perks like marble bathrooms with Acqua di Parma toiletries, 30” flat-screen televisions and 300-thread count Pratesi linens. Loft Rooms and Junior Suites are somewhat larger at around 1000-square feet including gas fireplaces, separate living and sleeping areas, and similar albeit more Alpine décor.
Set directly on a sidewalk street front walking distance to Aspen village, the main lobby features rather low-ceilings with tumbled-granite fireplace and exposed oak-panelling with antler-adorned lighting fixtures. Cushy club chairs and goose-down sofas create a rustic yet refined ambiance for gussied-up skiers and summer’s eclectic travelling crowd. Yes, people go to Aspen in the summer and the outdoor circular pool is actually one of the best in Colorado.
The hotel features one of Aspen’s first luxury day spa, Remede Day Spa, offering everything from body bronzing to post-slope rub-downs. Winter months are the busiest for the hotel, with in-house Olive Restaurant and Shadow Mountain Lounge attracting an après-ski crowd and dining glitterati. Tori Spelling, Jennifer Aniston and Kelly Clarkson love this place.
